I apologize intently for taking up your time. I have learned from your answers
but some of your answers only spawned more questions in which I will intently
pursue the answers to.

I am going to study the raw string processing capabilities and concentrate on
learning to write pure Perlish code, as my new found friend Ronald pointed out,
and trickle into the obscure areas such as modules, objects and Mac toolbox
later.

I have more research to do on the best books to get. It appears that O'Reilly
has an abundance of resources at my disposal. I am also going to work on my
Unix system with Perl and want to orient my resource gathering towards Unix,
aside from MacPerl that is. To my knowledge there is only one MacPerl related
book. It seems to be quite thorough and more than enough to dampen my learning
curve (thanks to Chris & Vicki).

Thank you for your response and your time.
