Don't Do That.  There are some very clear statements about XS files in all
the MacPerl module installation references.  See macperlmodinstall, a
recent attempt to put such information into one place.

After reading that, you should head on over to MMP (the link is in
macperlmodinstall) to get the latest binary distribution of GD.  But this
is assuming you could even dynamically load extensions ... if you are using
System 7.1, I think you can't (see the next post).  If you have MacPerl
properly installed, it comes with a GD you can use, though.
