I've owned a Zip 100 since they've first come out, and never had any trouble using MacPerl with them. When I'm running MacOS, I have a Perl script that twice daily walks certain trees mounted on my Zip. If you're having trouble, suspect the usual MacOS type things and do the usual MacOS type things, like running Norton or DiskFirstAid on the disk(s0 to see if it's OK, and rebuild the desktop on the Zip disk(s).
