Thanks for the words on your job and for the link. Unfortunately, the metrowerks server seems to be down or badly configured at the moment, i. e. I get an immediate "server error" every time I try to connect. On the G4: Yet I don't know how much skill or determination it would require to program this new RISC chip, but I'm *so* curious. And of course, the next chip architecture will render assembly efforts halfway obsolete  before one can say "Upps". But (maybe I'm a little weird) I think it would be really fun to develop assembly code for these processors. I wonder how fast a pure-assembly implementation of mp3 encoding could be, for instance (apart from the legal issues). But maybe you're right, and it would take more time than I am willing to invest. Anyway, I would like to have a go at it. So if you can dig it up, a great thank you to you!
