[MacPerl] DBI:proxy and long data types

I want to increase the maximum length of data I can extract from a 
long data type in a database.  The default is 65K, which is too small.

I set the maxmessage on the server, but that didn't solve the 
problem. I keep coming back with the maxmessage error from Comm.pm:

Maximum message size of 65536 exceeded.  Use 'maxmessage' option to increase

I've played around with various settings in my dbi handle, but to no 
avail.  Has anyone gotten this to work?
