Assuming that the data itself has not been eradicated, the first issue
would be gaining access to the raw "block device" (in Unixish terms).  I
dunno if Mac OS will let you do this; any Unixish system will, however.

After that, of course, you are faced with trying to reconstruct (and
identify) the data files.  I could wonder how much fragmentation you
would encounter, particularly if the photographs were taken at more
than one resolution...
