That, and some people will continue to use Mac OS Classic for awhile to come. And you might want Perl in your "blue box" under Mac OS X. Anyway, Mac OS (Classic) support is basically in the 5.6.x core now (although work still needs to be done), so in the future, hopefully, perl 5 will always be available on Mac OS (Classic).
