Re: [MacPerl-WebCGI] code set of characters received by cgi

Katsumi,

Thanks for the comments.

I'm working my way through these.

I had picked up some bad information that said the contents of the form,
when sent by method POST, would be EUC encoded, and had posted a question
about that before thinking it through. Then I remembered that I've got a
couple of test e-mails that show the contents of the POST, so I already
knew that it leaves our rental server encoded as SJIS.

>(2) MacPerl(en) + unkana-euc.pl for EUC

I have the Japanese version of MacPerl Power and Ease, which I have lent
to my co-worker, one Mr. Matsumoto. I apparently find it easier reading
than he does. Sure would be nice to get a _real_ solution to the E-J
translation problem.

(Vickie, Chris, don't be alarmed. You should see the mess they made of
K&R 2ed. Good translation generally seems to practically require a
re-write.)

>$B%s(B$B:XF#B>!'?7(JPerl$B$N9q$X$h$&$3$=!"%5%$%(%s%9http://www.ora.com/people/authors/lunde/j_tools.html) to read that. When
I first tried it without the trailing escapes to shift back to JIS-Roman,
it wouldn't convert. The mail header says an intermediary machine was
kind enough to auto-convert to quoted printable. :-0 )

So, Katsumi, would you recommend this book for Japanese speakers fluent
in neither English nor Perl?
