Thanks for the tip...will try (or just stick with the MPW tool form).

On my 8100, I saw one case (due to a blunder of mine) where the second run
of the script opened a log window and put the missing output there instead
of into the usual window.  I forget the title of the log window..."Log" was
in there.  Smaller window and different font than I've set up for my usual
output.
