The MacPerl application does its compilation of the source into a

In general, since the Macintosh printing architecture is so fully 
featured, it
may be better to output your printed material to a file which can be 
opened by
an application which can do the printing. For instance, output your text 
to a file
and have SimpleText or BBEdit print the file.
