Also, if anyone knows of a port of xemacs to >the Mac could you let me know of that as well. The only port of emacs to the Mac I'm aware of is of version 18.59, which is so old that I'm not sure you'd be interested in it. It can be found at http://www.esm.psu.edu/mac-tex/ which is also the address of a page devoted to TeX on the Mac that includes a good section on the capabilities of various Mac text editors. I've futzed around a bit with this MacEMACS, and it's stable, but not very fun to use. (Maybe it's just that I haven't used version 18 in a bunch of years, and keep forgetting what features do and don't exist under it) I've noticed some weird behavior in Alpha 7, too. I've gotten the Perl mode to activate (the popup menu at the bottom right of the screen-- it defaults to "Text" in red letters-- seems to be more reliable than the dragdown menus at the top), but it more than occasionally shuts off, or forgets where the MacPerl application is and won't execute scripts from the editor (Part of my problem may be that my MacPerl installation is on a removable drive at the moment, and my desktop may be a bit screwy as a result). It's definitely not as stable as 6.52, and loads much more slowly. I'm hoping that he updates it soon-- if he does, I'll register it, no question. As good a product as I've been told BBEdit is, I just can't justify spending more for a text editor than I did on my word processor!
