(It's in the System file in the ordinary case, so it should always be
available.)

Inside Mac--More Macintosh Toolbox page 1-127 (which lists several other
useful things).

I don't think this part of IM has been repealed...it likely doesn't carry
into "yellow box" (but I don't much care).
