My point of view (one from just a network and system eng) is that macperl is a great thing, the new win32 port is a great thing too, and on unix it is "absolutely fabulous" -:) Some remarks: -about the GUI; we need an interface that should be the same on mac/pc/u..x (like tcl/tk, i don t know if it is perl-tk or perl-GUI-native-OS who will win...) In order to build a RAD like Spectcl and then building app. -about the native-os-lib, it would be fantastic to have (like in win32) the ability to call system-libs (calling a dll under win32, i don t know if it is possible to do that under mac) -please a native network module without OSAX because the problem with applescript extension is that they should be in "scripting addition folder" wich has not the same place under OS7.5.X and OS8 long live to macperl -- Laurent BARDI: Ingenieur Systemes & Reseaux Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique INSTITUT de PHARMACOLOGIE et de BIOLOGIE STRUCTURALE Tel : 05-61-17-54-39 http://www.ipbs.fr/ (internal) Fax : 05-61-17-59-94 lolo@ipbs.fr CNRS-IPBS 205 Route de Narbonne 31400 TOULOUSE FRANCE There is worse than to have not succeded : Not to have tried ! ***** Want to unsubscribe from this list? ***** Send mail with body "unsubscribe" to mac-perl-request@iis.ee.ethz.ch
