perhaps a 5) mac-perl-cgi that deals with all web stuff ?

My point of view (one from just a network and system eng) is that
macperl is a great thing, the new win32 port is a great thing too, and
on unix it is "absolutely fabulous" -:)
Some remarks:

-about the GUI; we need an interface that should be the same on
mac/pc/u..x (like tcl/tk, i don t know if it is perl-tk or
perl-GUI-native-OS who will win...) In order to build a RAD like Spectcl
and then building app.

-about the native-os-lib, it would be fantastic to have (like in win32)
the ability to call system-libs (calling a dll under win32, i don t know
if it is possible to do that under mac)

-please a native network module without OSAX because the problem with
applescript extension is that they should be in "scripting addition
folder" wich has not the same place under OS7.5.X and OS8
