If I were arguing the other side, that would have been my first argument
also. Two mechanisms - two sources of error.

But the thing's been aired.... :-)

Diff seems to me to be the best mechanism for exchanging info between
porters, though, and so I suppose anyone who's keen on helping out in
doing that might want to see about getting up to speed on diff and patch.
