Please post the URL of *any* article where Tom Christiansen said this to a
Mac user. I've don't remember ever seeing it myself, and I select and read
all of his articles. (If you put MacPerl in the subject, he won't even see
the article; he's posted his killfile often enough.) He's occasionally said
things like this to Windows users, but I believe he is aware that Windows
has a command line and (so I'm told) most GNU tools are available for it,
so his answers are usually spot on in context.

Even if Tom gives you his "sub-Unix" schtick, his answers are almost always
correct. In fact, recently it seems to me that he's mellowed to Macs
somewhat. I can almost believe that he has one in a closet somewhere :-)
(well, not really).

The answer to your question is that you post to c.l.p.m. Learn who on
c.l.p.m knows what they're talking about, and read only their articles if
you want to avoid the platform bigots. Strangely enough, very few platform
bigots are really knowledgable about their platforms, or Perl, so it
usually pays to killfile them.
